Happy November to all! I hope that you are having a lovely Fall so far and trust that it will continue to be beautiful. I'd just like to send an update on recent and upcoming events.
Last Tuesday night quite a few of us spent several hours at the PolyTrauma Rehab unit at the VA Hospital. We had a great turnout and spent a wonderful time hanging out with the patients and a few families and children. We provided some pizzas, as well as snacks and desserts that were provided from local talents. Big Kahuna Kettle Corn provided delicious kettle corn for the patients as a donation! One of the owners is a fellow member of BSM's!!! Check out Big Kahuna Kettle Corn on Facebook. The cupcakes were made by an Army wife at Ft. Lee. Delicious!! Everyone had a wonderful night and the patients continually expressed appreciation for the visit. Those who were able to go were blessed.
Barb, our chaplain, led the First Friday Prayer group today. We had a great turnout. I was blessed to be able to attend since I worked evenings today. As always, we lifted those specific requests in prayer and covered all of our children and those specifically deployed! The next prayer meeting is Tuesday, December 3, at 7pm at First Baptist Church on Monument Ave. Send any prayer requests to Barb at [email protected].
Next Saturday, November 9 at 9:30 a.m. is our Treats for Troops packing. Please be sure to update any addresses of your children that are deployed or who have come home since the last packing. Also, if you know of any deployed go ahead and send their address to Chris Crouch, [email protected]. We meet at 1519 Summit Ave, Richmond, 23230. Park in the alley behind the building and you will see the door. Our packing supplies are being provided by local elementary schools.
Monday, November 11 is Veteran's Day. I hope that many of you will be able to attend this meaningful event at the Virginia War Memorial at 10a.m. There is also an afternoon event at the Chesterfield County Courthouse at 2pm.
As always, please check in on our new webpage for upcoming events. We try to keep the list updated and will be adding information soon about holiday events in December.
Remember our troops that are serving at home and overseas and those who serve daily in harm's way! Continue to support one another and make us aware of any special needs.
In service,
Stephanie Sill, Chapter President
