Blue Star Families (BSF) of Richmond, Virginia  was formed in June, 2007 in response to the need to provide support to the families of active duty military personnel. It is a chapter of Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc., which was chartered by Congress in 1960 and received tax exempt status with the IRS in August 2004.

Blue Star Families share educational information to benefit the members and their families through speakers, meetings, informal gatherings and e-mail.

We provide support for deployed, active duty service personnel from the Richmond, Virginia area through an on-going service project where items are collected and sent overseas in the form of care packages. We support this endeavor by raising funds through donations from community groups and individual sponsors.

BSF is a non-partisan, non-sectarian, non-profit and multi-racial support group for the United States Armed Forces service members, civilians and their families.
